StoryCast Support
We're here to help. Below you'll find answers to common questions and ways to get in touch.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I import audiobooks?
Tap the + button in the Library, select one or more audio files from your device or cloud storage, then choose a destination folder or import directly to Unfiled. StoryCast supports MP3, M4A, M4B, WAV, and AIFF formats.
Files from iCloud or other cloud providers are downloaded automatically. You can also open audio files directly from other apps via the iOS share sheet and choose StoryCast as the destination.
How do I connect to my Audiobookshelf server?
Go to Settings → Audiobookshelf → Servers, then tap Add Server. Enter your server URL (HTTPS is required), your username, and password, then tap Connect. Once verified, your server's library appears in the Servers section of the Library.
Your credentials are stored securely in the iOS Keychain and are never transmitted to anyone other than your own server.
How does playback work?
Tap any audiobook to open the player. Use the play/pause button to control playback, swipe the progress bar to seek to a specific time, or use the skip buttons to jump forward or backward. Your playback position is saved automatically as you listen.
Playback continues in the background and from the lock screen — you can control it from the Control Center or any connected Bluetooth device. You can also stream audio to AirPlay-compatible speakers and headphones.
How do I change the playback speed?
In the player view, tap the speed indicator (e.g., 1.0x) to open the speed picker. You can choose any speed from 0.5x to 3.0x in 0.1x increments. Your default speed is saved and applied to all new audiobooks.
To change the default speed permanently, go to Settings → Playback → Default Speed.
How do I use the sleep timer?
In the player view, tap the moon icon to open the sleep timer. Choose a duration — 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, or 120 minutes — or select End of Chapter to have playback pause automatically when the current chapter finishes.
Your default timer duration can be changed in Settings → Sleep Timer → Default Duration. When the timer is active, a moon icon appears in the player.
How do I organize my library with folders?
Tap the + button in the Library toolbar and select New Folder. Give your folder a name and tap Save. When importing files, you'll be asked to choose a destination folder.
You can also move existing books between folders: swipe on a book and select Move to Folder, or use the edit mode to select multiple books and move them at once. To delete a folder, swipe on it and confirm — the books inside move to Unfiled, they are not deleted.
Does StoryCast collect my data?
No. StoryCast does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to our servers. The app does not include analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs of any kind.
All your data — audiobooks, playback progress, library organization, and settings — stays on your device. When you connect to your own Audiobookshelf server, all data flows directly between your device and your server only. See our
Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I report a bug?
The best way to report a bug is to
open a GitHub issue with a description of the problem and the steps to reproduce it. You can also email us at
johnmanologlou@gmail.com.
If you're reporting from inside the app, go to
Settings → Support → Contact Support — this automatically includes your app version, build number, device model, and iOS version, which helps us understand and reproduce the issue faster.
Is StoryCast free?
Yes, StoryCast is completely free to use. An optional Tip Jar is available in Settings → Support Developer if you'd like to support ongoing development — but there is no obligation and all features work without it.
